Terms & Conditions

Thank you for choosing Ruff To Ready Grooming for your pet's grooming needs. Ruff To Ready Grooming prides itself on providing the best care for your best friend. Before grooming, please read and agree to our terms of service.

 

1. PRICING & PAYMENT: Prices are non-negotiable and must be paid in full at time of pickup. We accept cash & card payments. Pricing varies for each pet and is determined by breed, size and condition of the pet’s coat additional charges may also apply due to the pet's temperament and behaviour during the grooming session.

 

2. PICK-UP: Owner must pick-up pet within an hour of phone call/voicemail/text message to notify owner that the pet will be ready for pick-up. There will be a $5 fee every 15 minutes after the hour window unless discussed prior to the pets for drop-off.

 

3. MEDICAL: If your pet has any medical problems (seizures, arthritis, collapsing trachea, etc.) please make us aware of them so that we can take the necessary steps to ensure you're pets comfort. Sometimes grooming can expose a pre-existing condition. We cannot diagnose such a condition but may advise you to seek veterinary attention.

 

4. BITING: lf your pet has any history of biting; we ask that you notify us before grooming. 

 

5. FLEAS OR TICKS: If you know that your pet has fleas notify us prior to your appointment. If fleas are found during grooming, l will notify you. I will bathe the pet with a flea and tick shampoo. The additional charge for this service is $10 The flea bath will only kill active ticks and fleas on the pet, it will not prevent any future fleas or flea eggs from hatching. Once your pet leaves the salon. You are responsible for treating the home premise and sleeping areas of the pet.

An additional salon cleaning fee of $20 will be charged. 

 

6. SERVICE: Ruff To Ready Grooming reserves the right to refuse service to customers whose pets may pose a threat to myself, whether it is aggression problems, health problems or parasite problems. I do not allow sedated pets in our salon, nor will l administer any medication. There is no veterinary support in this location.

 

7. VACCINATIONS: ALL PETS MUST BE CURRENT ON VACCINATIONS BEFORE GROOMING

 

8. MATTING AND SHAVE DOWNS: Under the Animal Welfare Act 2006, it is an offence to cause unnecessary suffering to an animal. This includes ‘de-matting’ which is painful and detrimental to the welfare of the dog. If you bring in your dog with more than 15 minutes of de-matting work, we are required by the Act to clip your dog short humanely or refer you to your vet to do the same.

When a dog’s coat becomes matted, it causes discomfort as the matts pull tightly on the skin, underlying skin conditions may not be visible. 

When a matted coat is clipped short, it may reveal sore, redness and irritated skin, this is due to the skin not being able to breathe, lack of air circulation and dirt that has accumulated underneath. Clipping a matted coat can take longer and cause additional wear and tear on the equipment so a further fee may be chargeable in addition to the normal groom price.

 

With a matted coat, any personal preference for how your dog should look after their groom will not be achievable.

Post-shave effects are temporarily unattractive, unpleasant, and uncomfortable. But your pet will be starting the process to re-gain healthier skin and coat. Shaving a pet often exposes pre-existing skin conditions or sores shaving may cut or irritate the skin. We do not pay vet bills for eye irritation, skin rashes, cuts, skin irritation, repairing broken skin due to scratching, Iicking chewing or pets that shiver/hide. These are common responses to shave downs. While the groomer will employ the greatest care to avoid such events, they can and do occur in shave downs.

DISCLAIMER

In clipping short, you acknowledge that any irritation to your dogs’ skin is due to the removal of a matted coat and is not the responsibility of your groomer. When clipping a severely matted dog the chances of the dog’s skin being cut increases, but this is not due to negligence from the groomer but rather a sign of the dog’s coat condition before the groom. Once the matted hair is clipped it may reveal some red, irritated, or infected skin due to the matts holding moisture and pulling at the skin.

On rare occasion that this occurs; you may need to seek veterinary advice following the groom and you will be liable for the full cost of any treatment. Matted pets have a greater chance of injury during the grooming process, great care is taken during the groom however Ruff To Ready Grooming is not responsible for accident or injury to your pet during the de-matting process.

AFTER THE GROOM

Dogs feel different after being fully clipped and it can take time for them to adjust to the way their skin now feels. However, we assure you that your dog is much happier and healthier without the matted coat. 

​

Close supervision is needed in the first 24 hours as excess scratching, licking and head shaking may result in skin injury/irritation and ear haematoma which will require veterinarian care. Your dog’s nails will be clipped and filed short to prevent injury from scratching.

If there is skin irritation a soothing cream may provide some relief for closely shaved areas, please seek advice from a veterinarian on the best cream suited to your dog’s condition.

We recommend you bring your dog every 4-8 weeks for regular maintenance grooming, depending on coat length and style. I am more than happy to show you how to care for your dog’s coat to avoid having painful matting.

9. PHOTO AND VIDEO RELEASE: l agrees to allow Ruff To Ready Grooming to use my pet's name and any images or videos taken while he/she is in the care of Ruff To Ready Grooming, in any form or format, for use, at any time, in any media, marketing advertising, illustration, trade or promotional materials

10. ACCIDENTS: Although accidents are rare, there are risks when handing pets. Ruff To Ready Grooming will inform you immediately of any incident that occurs or that we may notice. We are not financially responsible should an accident or death occur unless proven negligent in handling or care. Your pet(s) safety and comfort is our number one priority.

​

Should my pet need veterinary care during or after the process, I authorise Ruff To Ready Grooming to act as my agent in the event of emergency veterinary services, care taking and/or transportation if necessary.

​

Lastly please let me know within 24 hours if you are not happy with your pet’s groom & allow me to make it right.
